What is CITES?

CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.How does CITES applies to tone wood trade?The CITES agreement applies to certain tone wood we sell as all the Dalbergia species for instance. Most of the protected wood are in the CITES appendix II, these wood can be sold within European Union without CITES permit. The permit applies to exports outside the European Union and has a cost of 60 euro. The only wood specie in the Appendix I is Dalbergia nigra know as Brazilian rosewood, for Dalbergia nigra CITES permit is required in any case.The CITES permit takes approximately 5 - 6 weeks to be issued by the Spanish authorities CITES .
